A decrease in oestrogen levels is common throughout menopause. Inconvenient side effects, such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness, might occur in some women. The most effective treatment for menopause symptoms is Hormone Replacement Therapy Toronto HRT (also known as hormone therapy, menopausal hormone therapy, and oestrogen replacement therapy).
Therapy with Estrogen
Estrogen Replacement Therapy (ERT) It is not uncommon for doctors to prescribe modest doses of oestrogen to women who have had hysterectomy surgery and/or surgical removal of all three fallopian tubes and both of the female reproductive organs and are now experiencing the symptoms associated with postmenopausal menopause. Different types of oestrogen exist. Prescription hormones can be taken in tablet or patch form as well as via injections or vaginal rings.
Estrogen supplement. Menopausal symptoms are most commonly treated with pills, which account for the majority of prescriptions. Premarin, Ogen, and Premarin are only two examples of conjugated estrogens (Cenestin and Estrace) or estrogens-bazedoxifene (Duavee). Dosing should be done in accordance with the advice of your physician. The majority of oestrogen tablets must be taken without meal once day. Others require a more complex dosage regimen.
A patch of oestrogen. On the lower abdomen, you’ll put on the patch. Some patches need to be replaced every few days, while others can be worn for up to a week at a time, depending on the dose. In this category we include Alora and Climara as well as Estraderm and Vivelle-Dot as possible examples. There are additional patches that combine oestrogen and progestin, such as Climara Pro and Combipatch. In comparison to other patches, Menostar has a lesser amount of oestrogen and is just intended to reduce the risk of osteoporosis. Other signs of menopause are not alleviated by this remedy.
Estrogen applied on the skin. Creams, gels, and sprays can also be used to supplement your oestrogen intake. Gels (like EstroGel and Divigel), creams (like Estrasorb), and sprays are all examples of these products (like Evamist). Estrogen is absorbed into the bloodstream through the skin, much like patches. These creams can be applied in a variety of ways, but the general rule is that they should be applied once daily. From the wrist to the shoulder, EstroGel is administered with a thin brush to one arm. Legs are covered in Estrasorb. The arm gets slathered in Evamist.
Estrogen for the womb. It is possible to take vaginal oestrogen in the form of cream, ring, or pill. Vaginal dryness, itching, and burning or discomfort during intercourse are among the most common complaints of women who use these therapies. Vasectomy pills (Vagifem), creams (Estrace or Premarin), and insertable rings are some examples of these types of contraceptives (Estring or Femring). Dosing regimens differ from product to product. Every three months, most vaginal rings need to be changed. After a few weeks of daily use, you just need to use the vaginal pills twice a week. It is possible to apply creams every day, many times a week, or in a different way.
