In a recent study, one group of women consumed four glasses of full milk a day; another took 1000mg of calcium carbonate a day 1n two separate doses, and a third took a placebo. After two years, the placebo group had lost three per cent of bone mineral density. The women who drank milk had minimal loss, while those who took supplements suffered no bone loss and showed a significant increase in bone mineral density.
