Rate Your Plate!

Trying to lose weight? Or perhaps thinking of getting on board the health train? Well, having a proper diet is an important aspect in both instances. If you're not sure whether your meal is healthy and detest the idea of counting calories, there is another way - one that the American Diabetes Association refers to as 'Rate Your Plate'. You can easily identify the good and bad in every meal based on this simple plan. First, picture your plate in four quarters. About one quarter of the plate should have starchy or grainy foods like rice, potatoes or pasta. Another quarter should have proteins like fish or chicken. The other two quarters should consist of non-starchy vegetables like broccoli, carrots, tomatoes and cauliflower.
