Vitamin And Minerals For Stronger Bones

Vitamin And Minerals For Stronger Bones

Here's what you need to help you maintain your bones in good condition:
1. Calcium is a mineral that your body needs to build and maintain strong bones. Calcium can help reduce the risk of fractures and osteoporosis later in life, when bone density decreases with increasing age. Milk and dairy products are excellent sources of calcium; one glass of milk or one cup of yogurt contains about 300mg of calcium.
Experts recommend a daily intake of 800mg of calcium, from 3 servings of dairy or a calcium supplement with magnesium and vitamin D3 for better absorption.

2. Magnesium is a mineral that your body needs for calcium metabolism to maintain healthy bones. About half of your body's magnesium can be found with calcium and phosphorus in your bones.

3. Vitamin D3 is a fat-soluble vitamin that can be derived from sun exposure and food. Vitamin D3 plays an important role in aiding calcium absorption and bone mineralisation in your body to prevent weak and porous bones. It is also required for the maintenance of calcium and phosphorus in the body.

Of course, don't forget to exercise. Weight-bearing activities such as walking are good for your bones too!
